Are you a NYS Teacher?
One Mic Project programs are designed to meet NYS Anchor Standards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 10 depending on the exact nature of the program.

One Day Workshop

Participants will engage in a guided songwriting process in a group setting. The teaching artist will coordinate a planned theme or topic prior to arrival. Ideal as a special event for your music or non-music classroom.

Topics/themes can include:

  • Relevant, non-music related subjects, such as PEMDAS, US History, etc.

  • School spirit

  • An upcoming holiday

6-8 week programs

The flagship One Mic Project program. Over the course of 6-8 weeks, participants will engage with the basics of songwriting and will receive guidance as they complete their own original songs and music. A typical program culminates with finished recordings of the original songs and a live performance event.

Ongoing Programs

After the successful completion of an initial program, One Mic Project is able to continue with an organization. As the program is focused on the creativity of the individuals involved, participants are able to repeat/continue in the program. These ongoing collaborations allow for a deeper exploration of songwriting, music production, and other topics.

Since 2023, One Mic Project has been a part of NYSCA/Wave Farm: Arts in Corrections NYS programs. Learn more about this ongoing program.
